C2C Cycle Route Footprint Map

The coast to coast C2C map from Footprint

The C2C Cycle Route Footprint map is the newest of the C2C coast to coast cycle maps or guide books (published in 2018) and therefore has some changes that the others do not.

For example, there is now no route from Cockermouth to Bassenthwaite Lake via the forest. Instead, the Workington branch of the C2C is signposted on the ground as going via Lorton. The Footprint coast to coast map shows that route.

It is a very good map:

  • printed on waterproof paper
  • lightweight but strong
  • very clear mapping
  • with town plans where useful

The iconic C2C route runs from Whitehaven or Workington on the Cumbrian coast, via the Lake District and the Pennines, finishing at either Tynemouth or Sunderland on the North Sea coast. Each option is shown on this map.

Note that the Keswick to Threlkeld railway path, which was destroyed in the 2015 floods, has reopened (and is better than ever!).

The map is double-sided and very easy to follow. It is highly recommended, especially with the Sustrans C2C map out of print.

The map is produced by Stirling Surveys, highly regarded map publishers.
